London Marathon Week 9 Blog

This week I am focussing my training on preparing myself for the Silverstone Half Marathon on Sunday 6th March.
I am going to continue with my routine of combining a variety of training methods, i.e. spinning, cross-training and running whilst allowing enough time to rest so that I am in the best position to run on Sunday.

I also have a good excuse to load up on carbs towards the end of the week which I won’t be complaining about.

On Monday I spent a short while doing some cardio in the gym which was followed by an hour long yoga session which was really relaxing after my long run at the weekend. I had a spin class on Wednesday which wasn’t as intense as previous weeks but that suits my training plan this week as I am trying to savour my energy for the weekend.

This week I am trying a great knee support from Neo G who has a full range of innovative medical and lifestyle products. I am really pleased to be using a knee support that actually works with the affected area, providing comfort and support before, during and after running/any other sport I undertake. Neo G have also provided me with a Patella band that can provide support to a specific area, adding compression where needed and a slim profile which means you can wear it discreetly under your clothes. If anyone is interested in Neo G’s products, you can check out www.neo-g.co.uk for the full range.

This weekend I ran the Silverstone half marathon which is the official race leading up to the big day. It was well attended with 10,000 runners and it took me two hours and twenty minutes to finish, a time I wasn’t too disappointed in but I realise I still have a long way to go in terms of preparation before April 17th. As a result, over the coming weeks I am going to add several miles onto my long runs at the weekend so that I have run at least 20 miles before the marathon.
